THE PARISH

THE PARISH

PARISH MISSION

We Believe:    That as parishioners of Holy Name of Jesus Parish we are called by God to be a caring community dedicated to prayer, praise and the worship of God and the service of others, especially those in the most need.

We Acknowledge:    Our dependence on God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and the necessity to seek and discern His will through the Holy Mass, Sacraments, Holy Rosary, the truths revealed in Sacred Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium. We accept the responsibility in providing a community of prayer, teaching and spiritual guidance.

We Give:    God permission to work in us through the power of the Holy Spirit to reveal the will of the Father for each of us and make us one in the name of Jesus our crucified and risen Saviour.

HOLY NAME of JESUS PARISH HISTORY

The original mission church of the Holy Name of Jesus was built of logs one mile north of the present church on Highway 15. The area was known as Cushendall or Kingston Mills. Some parishioners recall that their parents and grandparents walked or rode a horse driven sleigh across the Rideau Canal from the Aragon Road, Mount Chesney and Glenburnie area to attend Mass during winter...
